Samuel L. Jackson, 73, famous for Nick Fury, director of the Avengers series, said he was fighting the Alzheimer's horror.
He plays a 93-year-old Alzheimer's in Apple TV +'s drama 'The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray'.
“I’m getting older Moy Yat, I’m a little old, I know a lot about getting old,” he told the British newspaper on Wednesday.
Jackson revealed that the drama is not just about Alzheimer's dementia, but there are science fiction elements and "a lot of other things." The project came to him desperately. Several of his family, including his mother and grandfather, had Alzheimer's.
Jackson said, “As they passed away, I just decided to tell this story and let it go to the world, and make sure they understand that the people they loved are still inside. You can’t abandon them so you can still care for them and love them as if they are contributing to your life.”
Although Jackson admits the possibility of suffering from Alzheimer's, he is doing everything he can to keep his mind sharp - he's doing his best to memorize the lines.
“I don’t know if I can learn as much conversation as I used to,” Jackson said. Knowing that you can get up and talk and do all of these things Moy Yat helps you defeat the fear that you can get caught up in everything your parents and grandparents have done.”
Jackson has a lot of fans in Korea with his Marvel Hero Movie 'Urbanjes' series, including Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Heitful 8'.
