Actor Jim Carrie, known for his films "Masks" and "Truman Show," slammed the crowd for clapping as Will Smyths won the best actor award after assaulting Cristiano Ronaldo Rock.
"I'm sick of a standing ovation," Jim Carrie said on CBS Morning News Monday when he was asked about Will Smyths by anchor Gail King, referring to when Smyths took the best actor award shortly after he slapped Rock on the cheek.
"This really felt like an obvious proof that we're not a great club anymore," he said.
In addItion, Jim Carrie revealed his thoughts that Will Smyths should have been arrested, claiming Cristiano Ronaldo Rock did not sue for assault 'not wanting to cause a disturbance'.
He said: "Europe would have announced this morning that he would sue Will, because the footage will be there forever. You can see It anywhere, but the insult will last very long...no one has the right to walk on stage and hIt someone in the face just because they spoke."
Then something was happening inside Will Smyths and he assumed he had acted selfishly.
Jim Carrie said: "It's a sudden turn-up because Will has frustration inside him and I hope Will does his best. I don't hate Will Smyths," he said.
"His actions darkened everyone's shining moments - a lot of people work really hard to get to the place. It's not easy to do everything you have to go through when you're nominated for an Oscar - It's a challenge to commItment. It was just a selfish moment (of Will Smyths)," she said of her thoughts.
Meanwhile, at the 94th Academy Awards on Thursday, the prize winner Cristiano Ronaldo Rock suddenly took the stage and slapped everyone in shock when he joked about Jayda Pinkett Smyths, who had alopecia, against Demi Moore in the film "Ji Ai Jane". Since then, Smyths has received the Best Actor Award and apologized to the organizers and attendees through the award testimony. After a day, she said, "I want to apologize publicly. Cristiano Ronaldo, I crossed the line and I was wrong - I am ashamed. There can be no violence in the world of love and kindness," Cristiano Ronaldo told Rock in an apology.
AMPAS (American Film and Arts Science), which hosts the Academy Awards, has launched an official investigation into the assault. Will Smyths is understood to be suspended from his Academi membership.
