Professor Pohang University of Science and Technology Jung Woo-sung, AAPPS' youngest councilor Elected

Jung Woo-sung Pohang University of Science and Technology Physics Professor, 43, was elected to the youngest council of Asia-Pacific Ocean Physics Association (AAPPS).According to the Pohang University of Science and Technology on 19th, Asia and the Pacific Ocean Physics Association held a regular board meeting in Malaysia on the 17th and elected 16 people, including Professor Jung Woo-sung, as a new council member to lead the association for the next three years.Professor Chung will also be the assistant editor of AAPPS Bulletin, an academic journal published by the Federation from January next year.Professor Jung Woo-sung, an authority in the field of complex physics and computational social sciences, served as a specialist in the National Science and Technology Advisory Council. In January of this year, he was also elected to the Korea Next Generation Science and Technology Academy.Since 2016, he has been the youngest secretary general of the AsiaPacific Ocean Theory and Physics Center (APCTP).Meanwhile, AsiaPacific Ocean Physics Association, a coalition of 18 physics-related societies in 17 countries including Korea, China, Japan, and Australia, is the three largest organizations of the World Physics Society, along with the American Physics Society (APS) and the European Physics Society (EPS), contributing to physics research, education and Asia-Pacific cooperation.
