Perlman's neighbours, Carly Wilson and Chrissy James Mackay, said they were shocked by the news of his death. The fact that a normally vibrant neighbour was found dead less than three miles from the East Hollywood apartment complex was surprising.
James Mackay said his behaviour looked more depressing in the week before Perlman went missing.

The two women have become Friends since Perlman moved into the apartment complex in October 2020.
"She had a divorce a while ago and that's why she moved here," James Mackay said, adding: "She was looking for a new start.
