Jung Woo-sung Pohang University of Science and Technology Professor, Choi Young-won, Councilman of the Society of Physics

Professor Jung Woo-sung (41, photo) of the Department of Science and Technology Physics at Pohang University was electronically assigned to the youngest council of Asia and Pacific Ocean Physics Association (AAPPS).The Asia-Pacific Ocean Physics Association said on Thursday that it held a regular board meeting in Malaysia and elected 16 people, including Professor Jung Woo-sung, as new council members.He will serve as the assistant editor of the journal AAPPS Bulletin, published by the Federation since January 2020.Professor Chung, an authority in the field of complex physics and computational social sciences, served as a specialist in the National Science and Technology Advisory Council. In January of this year, he was elected to the Korea Next Generation Science and Technology Academy.He has also been the youngest secretary-general of the AsiaPacific Ocean Theory Physics Center (APCTP) since 2016.APCTP won the Excellence Prize at the 2nd Science Biz Awards, co-hosted by the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation to foster the science and culture industry.Asia and Pacific Ocean Physics Association is a coalition of 18 physics-related societies in 17 countries in Asia and Asia, including Korea, China, Japan and Australia.It is considered one of the three largest organizations of the World Physics Society, along with the American Physics Society (APS) and the European Physics Society (EPS).
