Amidst the police complaint filed against Seungri, a former member of the group Big Bang, for aggravated assault on a man at a drinking establishment, a photo of him recently taken at a bar has become a hot topic. While some speculated that the photo was taken at the scene on the day of the incident, Seungri denied this.
On the 13th, a photo of Seungri taken last August was posted on the social media account of an overseas netizen who identified themselves as a fan.
The photo showed Seungri wearing a black hat, smiling brightly while posing for a picture with three other people at a bar. On the table were a birthday cake, snacks, and bottles of alcohol.
Sports Seoul reported the speculation that the photo was taken at the scene on the day of the incident. However, they did not provide any evidence to support this claim.
As such speculation spread, Seungri's side told Ilgan Sports that the photo circulating online was not from the day of the incident, stating, "It is a photo taken at a different location with acquaintances."
It was recently revealed that Seungri was sued on the 26th of last month by a man in his 30s, identified as A, for aggravated assault. A claims that Seungri assaulted him at a restaurant in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
On the other hand, Seungri pleaded his innocence in an interview with Ilgan Sports. He stated that on the morning of the 8th of last month, while he was dining with two acquaintances at a sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) restaurant in Gangnam, a customer named A from another table approached him while intoxicated and abruptly demanded to join them.
Seungri explained that he refused several times, but A did not leave, asking him to listen to his business ideas. He said, "Eventually, we sat together, I listened to his story, we drank together, and we exchanged numbers, suggesting we become like brothers."
Seungri added, "A even saw me off on my way home," and continued, "A few hours later, he sent me a text saying he would bring a business plan next week. I am bewildered that he has filed a lawsuit claiming to have been harmed, wondering what kind of change of heart he had."
Regarding the charge of aggravated assault, Seungri stated, "It is true that I held a bottle of alcohol while expressing my refusal to join," but added, "I only held it; I did not swing it or threaten him." Seungri stated that he is considering filing a countersuit for false accusation.
Seungri, a former member of the group Big Bang, was implicated in the 2019 "Burning Sun Gate" and served a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison after the Supreme Court upheld his conviction on a total of 9 charges, including habitual gambling, prostitution, brokering prostitution, aggravated assault, and embezzlement.
