Singer who confessed, "I fell into the nightlife industry because of emptiness"... 'Cha In-pyo' who changed his life
Singer and businessman Shim Tae-yoon (50) opened up about the struggles he experienced during his time in the entertainment industry and the process of his transition into a businessman.
On the 8th, footage of Shim Tae-yoon appearing on the YouTube channel 'Lee Sung-mi's Can't Go' to share updates on his life and stories from the past was released.
Shim Tae-yoon said, "I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years," adding, "In a way, business is my main occupation now."
Recalling his days as a singer, he reminisced, "I relied solely on my talent and didn't put in any effort," and "Because everything went so easily, I was immature. It seems like I acted like a singer with ten albums when I was only on my first."
Debuting in 1999, Shim Tae-yoon gained popularity by releasing songs such as 'Bang Bang Bang,' 'Clalala,' 'Letter,' and 'What Is It?' Later, he performed under the stage name 'STA' and released songs like 'You Are... I Am a Fool' from the OST of the drama 'Princess Hours.'
However, he reportedly went through a period of wandering as his musical career did not continue as he had hoped.
Shim Tae-yoon stated, "I stepped into the nightlife industry to compensate for my unfulfilled heart elsewhere," adding, "My intention was to reach number one in the world of night culture to release my pent-up self-esteem. Looking back now, I realize I failed to properly control my emotions."
The indoor street food stall business he started in Apgujeong-dong afterward achieved unexpected success.
He said, "The business went well, but I was not satisfied with my life," adding, "Even while repeating a routine of going to work at 5 PM and working until dawn, a part of my heart remained empty."
The turning point that changed the direction of his life was his meeting with actor Cha In-pyo.
Shim Tae-yoon said, "I regained my center in life through faith," and continued, "I changed the direction of my business in accordance with the scripture, 'Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.' Since then, for 19 years, I have been meditating on the Bible every day and striving to live a life where 'Jesus is sufficient.'"
