Park Myung-soo, Reason for Leaving 20-Year Manager "Shin Dong-yeop, put me in an agency? Contact me directly" ('Rolling Thunder')
Comedian Park Myung-soo revealed why he parted ways with his manager of 20 years and joined an agency.
Park Myung Soo recently appeared on the YouTube channel Rolling Thunder to talk about his agency switch with fellow comedians Cho Hye Ryeon, Lee Kyung Sil, and Lee Sun Min.
Earlier this year, Park Myung Soo announced a new start by signing an exclusive contract with CP Entertainment, a Coupang-affiliated entertainment company that also includes Shin Dong Yup and Lee Soo Ji, after ending a long collaboration with his manager, who had been with him for about 20 years since his "Infinite Challenge" days.
In the video, Park explained why he switched agencies, saying, "I used to work alone (at a one-man agency), but this time I joined (Coupang's subsidiary) CP Entertainment," adding, "It's a tech company, and I felt that I needed a place that could adapt to me as the trends keep changing."
When Cho Hye Ryeon asked, "Did Shin Dong Yup put you on the show?" Park Myung Soo replied, "No, he didn't. I have a different part than Shin Dong-yup, and I contacted him myself," surprising everyone.
He also mentioned the strengths of his agency. "Coupang has its own content. "I want to do commerce, I want to be a music pro, I want to do concerts, and all of those systems are in place," he said. "It's a no-frills company, it's very polished, and there are very few mistakes," he said.
Born in 1970, Park is currently hosting KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung-soo's Radio Show. In addition to his broadcasting activities, he keeps in touch with his fans through his personal YouTube channel. His YouTube channel has about 1.71 million subscribers as of 6 p.m. on April 4.
