Singer Kim Ho-joong, who was imprisoned on charges of drunk driving and Hit-and-run, has been released early through Parole after serving approximately 80% of his sentence. Kim Ho-joong will be released from Somang Prison in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of the 30th and is scheduled to undergo probation for the remainder of his term.
Kim Ho-joong was arrested and indicted in May 2024 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing a collision with a taxi in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, fleeing the scene, and instructing his manager to falsely confess. He was subsequently sentenced to two years and six months in prison during the appeal trial.
Kim Ho-joong's original scheduled release date was November 24, but he will be released back into society five months earlier than planned following approval by the Ministry of Justice's Parole Review Committee. Officials from his agency, Think Entertainment, who participated in covering up the incident, have also previously received prison sentences and suspended sentences, respectively.
Kim Ho-joong hinted at a comeback by expressing his determination to sing again through his fan cafe. Fans have also expressed their respect for his decision and stated that they will prepare for his return, drawing attention to his future moves.
