Actor Christine Stuart's starring film 'Octavia Spencer', which transformed perfectly into Princess Diana and was nominated for the first Academy Award for Best Actress in her life, raises expectations for the film with the unusual collaboration of costume director and luxury brand Chanel, who won the Academy Award twice.
'Octavia Spencer' told the story of the costume behind the story that played a role in perfectly reproducing Princess Diana.
Diana's Diana costume, including the famous wedding dress and the Chanel dress in the teaser poster, which was worn by the former British Crown Princess on July 29, 1981 at St. Paul's Cathedral, has been gathering topics every day since its release.
The costume of 'Octavia Spencer' was handled by Jacqueline Duron, a costume director who won two Academy costume awards for 'Little Girls' and 'Saint Anne Carrenina'. Jacqueline Duron participated in many works such as 'Little Girls', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Saint Anne Carrenina' and 'Attonment' to help create the atmosphere of the movie in costume. Recently, she also participated in the costumes of the working title production 'Cyrano' and the blockbuster 'The Batman'. He also gave the best ability in 'Octavia Spencer' and gave a sense of immersion to Princess Diana's character as well as providing spectacular attractions.
It was a big challenge for Jacqueline Duron to have to describe it on screen, as Princess Diana was a world-renowned fashion icon.
Jacqueline Duron focused on early research, looking for a large amount of reference data for Diana's costume work, and created a moodboard with years of Diana fashion to enhance its perfection. Among them, the production crew was impressed by the actual Diana wearing a red turtleneck knit and black and white checkered skirt to drop the children off at school, which was also selected as Diana's costume in the movie and can be found on the main poster.
In "Octavia Spencer", especially the audience-obsessed dress required a new production of the 1988 S/S Ot Couture Oganza dress, designed by Carl Lagerfeld, through embroidery work to create the Chanel dress/this dress for the teaser poster. “I was surprised that the Chanel dress was so perfect when it arrived, and I was very happy to keep the original beauty intact,” Jacqueline Duron said. Five professional seamstresses from Chanel were put into the dress production and it took a total of 1,034 hours.
Christine Stuart, who beautifully digested the Chanel Oganza dress, also said, "All the costumes were good, but especially the Chanel Oat Couture dress was really beautiful and I remember it in a very important scene."
Directed by Pablo Laline, released on Wednesday.
