A judge gave a goodwill to Jung Babi (real name Jung Dae-wook and 42), a member of the indie band fall vacation who was handed over to trial for assaulting a woman he was dating and filming Illegal, and controversy erupted.
The Seoul National League West District Court held the first trial of Jung Babi, who was handed over to trial on charges of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
Previously, Jung Babi was handed over to trial in July 2019 for allegedly filming the body part of a woman who was an aspiring singer and lover in her 20s, and the woman appealed for damage and made an extreme choice in April of the following year.
On the same day, Jung Babi appeared at the first hearing with a firm expression. Jung Babi's lawyer admitted the video shooting but claimed that he had obtained the consent of the other party. He also admitted only a portion of the allegations of assault.
At the end of the trial, however, the questions and remarks made by the judge of the chief judge to Jung Babi became controversial. The judge asked Jung Babi what kind of music he wrote, and Jung Babi said he was "popular music" and worked mainly on the underground.
The judge said, "Do you have a representative song among the songs we know?" He asked again, "I liked music and asked me." "Make a lot of good songs."
It was confirmed that there were the bereaved families of the deceased Victims in court at the time; the bereaved side criticized the judge's comments after the hearing, calling them "inappropriate."
Victims' father said, "It seems to be trying to proceed from the investigation agency to the court in the position of the perpetrator."
However, the Seoul National League West District Court said it did not plan to issue an official position or explain it.
Meanwhile, Jung Babi's next trial will be held at 3 pm on March 23.
