The 2020 VMA will be awarded this year after the Best K Pop category was established last year. In addition to Best K Pop, BTS has been nominated for three categories: Best Pop (Best POP) and Best choreography (Best CHOREOGRAPHY). In particular, it is expected to perform the first stage of the new digital single Dynamite in VMA, drawing attention.
The 2020 VMA started in 1984 and celebrated its 37th anniversary this year, with mtv selecting the Best music video for the year as one of the annual music awards. The main awards include Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best New Artist (PUSH Best New Artist, Presented by Chime Banking).
The 2020 VMA will be broadcast exclusively on SBS mtv for two hours from 10 pm on the 31st (Mon). In addition, SBS mtv will organize HITS SPECIAL: VMA NOMINEE and HITS SPECIAL: VMA PERFORMER, which will show VMA candidates and performers' music videos, at 3 a.m. on the 26th (Wednesday) and 3 a.m. on the 30th (Wednesday), respectively.
