'Singing Passionately in Kimono' Park Yoochun Holds Dinner Show in Japan... Price Exceeds 450,000 Won, 'Another High-Price Controversy'
Singer Park Yoochun is set to hold a dinner show in Japan next year, drawing attention as ticket prices exceed 450,000 won per person.
On the 3rd, Park Yoochun’s official account announced the "Park Yoochun Dinner Show 2027" confirmed, stating, "Everyone, you have waited a very long time. Park Yoochun’s dinner show has been confirmed. And the first event in Osaka, which many of you have been waiting for, will take place."
Park Yoochun will hold the dinner show at a hotel on February 13th next year. Tickets are available for pre-sale by fan club members, with all seats reserved. A single ticket costs 52,000 yen, and with separate shipping fees and handling charges added, the total comes to a whopping 53,500 yen. Calculated at the current exchange rate, this amounts to approximately 450,000 won.
The organizers promoted the event by stating, "Once again, Park Yoochun himself is personally producing everything (of the dinner show)," and asked the audience to look forward to and anticipate what kind of performance will unfold at the first Osaka show.
Along with this, a video was released showing Park Yoochun singing in front of his fans. While passionately singing live, Park encouraged the Japanese audience to clap along, and after putting on a traditional Japanese kimono, he showed off his back while asking, "Is this okay?"
For reference, regarding the price range for dinner shows by top Korean singers in 2024, VIP seats for Jang Yoon-jeong were 300,000 won, Insooni was also 300,000 won, and Joo Hyun-mi was around 280,000 won. In addition, last year, VVIP seats for Kim Hye-yeon's 35th Anniversary Dinner Show were 350,000 won, Na Tae-ju's Parents' Day Dinner Show was 250,000 won for all seats, Enoch's Christmas Dinner Show was 320,000 won for VIP seats, and Min Hae-kyung's Christmas Dinner Show was 300,000 won for VIP seats. It is reported that...
In Korea, prices generally range from the high 200,000 won to the low 300,000 won range. Even considering the distinct circumstances of the Korean and Japanese markets and differences in cost of living, a price point reaching 450,000 won is surprising. Compared to domestic hotel dinner shows, which generally cost around 300,000 won, Park Yoochun's dinner show in Japan is considered quite expensive.
There is a view that he is holding dinner shows despite the high price because he has effectively retired from the Korean entertainment industry and relies primarily on overseas activities. On the other hand, considering that some Japanese singers' hotel dinner shows cost 50,000 yen, some argue that Park Yoochun's price range does not deviate significantly.
Park Yoochun has previously faced controversy over high-priced dinner shows and has been the subject of public criticism for consistently appearing on the list of high-amount, habitual tax delinquents for failing to pay back taxes for 10 years.
Park Yoochun has defaulted on a total of five taxes, including capital gains tax, since 2016, and The outstanding tax amount is approximately 400 million won. In relation to this, his agency announced in July of this year that "various lawsuits in Korea that have been ongoing for a long time have been successfully concluded," and subsequently shared plans for tax payment. "Park Yoo-chun submitted an installment payment plan to the National Tax Service of Korea, and has been faithfully fulfilling payments in accordance with the plan submitted following the settlement. He plans to complete full tax payment within this year. Although some reports claim that Park Yoo-chun is not paying any taxes at all, in reality, payments are being completed according to the installment plan, and his name is being removed from the list of high-amount tax delinquents. We will continue to make tax payments in accordance with the installment plan," they promised.
Park Yoo-chun also stated through his agency, "I am sorry for causing worry and inconvenience regarding the trials and tax arrears in Korea for such a long time. I offer my apologies here." He added, "I am reflecting on my past mistakes, repenting, and learning about life. Although I am still immature and lacking in some areas, I am striving to cherish the time given to me again."
