Jung attended the 'Global Refugee Forum Press Briefing' held at the Korea Representative Office of the United Nations Refugee Organization in Seoul on the 20th, and said, "Misunderstood" is the biggest difficulty related to the Refugee issue in our society.
Jung became an honorary ambassador to the United Nations Refugee Organization in May 2014, and has been a goodwill ambassador since 2015. Over the past five years, I have visited Refugee camps in seven countries, including Nepal, South Sudan and Bangladesh. In June, I also published an essay book "If You Can See What I See" that contains the Refugee activities of the past.
"I have been protecting Refugee for five years, and Refugee has increased by 25 million people all over the world, and ordinary people are still being displaced," Jung said. "If this trend is going on, it will be difficult to see Refugee's protection responsibility as a problem for neighboring countries in the country where Refugee occurred."
In fact, the problem of Refugee in Korea was recognized only as a problem of other countries, but it is emerging as an important social problem as it suffered from the problem of Refugee in Yemen last year.
"I think I want to find the answer quickly as there are various conflicts of interest over the Refugee issue," Jung said. "But now is the time to think about how to understand the new neighbors."
"There may be Misunderstood and prejudice in the process of getting to know our neighbors, but over time, we can reduce this Misunderstood," Jung said. "It is a process of reducing this Misunderstood, and fortunately, the gap seems to be narrowing at a rapid pace."
"I would like to see Refugee with a sense of understanding in social change rather than presenting urgent alternatives or answers."
