A netizen who spread rumors about actor Song Hye-kyo was sent to the prosecution.
Police in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, said on October 15 that they sent netizens A and B, who posted false articles and malicious comments related to Song Hye-kyo, to the prosecution on charges of defamation and insult under the Information and Communications Network Act.
According to the police, A posted a false article on his blog in June, when Song Hye-kyo was reported to be in divorce with actor Song Jung-ki, saying, "China's big man, $ ponsor, is a decisive divorce." Mr. B is reported to have posted comments such as "Song Hye-kyo" and "Ghosts to Eat Men" in Song Jung-ki's divorce article.
Song Hye-kyo suffered from malicious comments. On June 28, Kim & Chang's law office was appointed as a legal representative and began legal response.
Song Hye-kyo agency UAA filed a complaint on July 25 against a number of people who were clearly accused of defamation and insult in the Bundang Police Station on the day. The UAA first filed a complaint with the Bundang Police Department with a number of distributors who have completed the collection of evidence for malicious acts, clear dissemination of false facts, and malicious blatant slander and abuse in connection with Song Hye-kyo. We will also file a criminal complaint against all of the rest of the community, comments, and YouTubers as soon as evidence is secured. "We will respond hard without any preemption or agreement."
