"Mr. Park Hyun-ho, I hope you apologize"... Cha Ye-ryun denies 'school violence,' but stories pouring in
Actress Cha Ye-ryun has become embroiled in allegations of school violence that occurred well over 20 years ago. Although she immediately denied the accusations, various rumors continue to surface. While Cha Ye-ryun has remained silent since her initial denial, posts demanding an explanation from her husband, Joo Sang-wook, continue to appear.
The allegations of school violence against Cha Ye-ryun surfaced recently after a post titled "Actress born in '85, school violence perpetrator, please stop your activities" appeared on an online community. The author of the post, identified as "A," claimed to have suffered habitual bullying and assault during their school days from "Actress B," a graduate of Junggye Middle School who was born in 1985. Regarding B, A lamented, "She was a notorious bully at school. Back in middle school, she was truly a devil. I feel pain when I see her appearing on TV or YouTube smiling, and being consumed as a good wife and mother, an actress who cooks well, and a healthy character."
A claimed that she was frequently assaulted by B in classrooms, restrooms, and buildings near the school, sustaining injuries severe enough to rupture her eardrum and cause her cheek to swell. She further alleged that B habitually subjected her to profanity and verbal abuse, lamenting, "Decades have passed, but it is still so difficult that I attend a psychiatric clinic, take medication, and live with symptoms of depression and anxiety." She also stated that if the allegations are denied, she will release testimonies from classmates and additional evidence.
Although the actor's real name was not mentioned in the post, Cha Ye-ryun was identified based on her birth year, alma mater, and initials. Cha Ye-ryun's agency, HB Entertainment, denied the school violence allegations on the 30th of last month, stating they were "groundless."
Even after the agency's denial, testimonies from those identifying themselves as Cha Ye-ryun's classmates continue to emerge. The controversy surrounding the allegations has spread to her family, and the dispute is now extending to her husband, Joo Sang-wook, and her recently revealed daughter.
Following this, the comment section on the YouTube channel operated by Cha Ye-ryun was also closed. On the 1st, the production team of the YouTube channel "Cha Jang-geum Cha Ye-ryun" stated, "We learned about the current situation while on a schedule in the United States with Cha Ye-ryun. We ask for your understanding regarding the delay in our response." They added, "YouTube comments are managed based on the production team's judgment, without any involvement from the cast. While verification regarding the matter is underway, we will disable some videos and the comment section to prevent the spread of indiscriminate rumors and personal attacks against the family. We ask for the understanding of our subscribers."
With reports indicating that Cha Ye-ryun learned about the school bullying reports while in the United States, the suspicions continue to persist.
Comments claiming to be aware of the bullying allegations from over 20 years ago are still appearing on Cha Ye-ryun's account, and some members of the public are demanding the truth, stating, "If she did something wrong, we hope she apologizes even now." Cha Ye-ryun's real name, Park Hyun-ho, and her alma mater are also continuously being mentioned.
Allegations surfaced, and Cha Ye-ryun denied them. However, the suspicions remain unresolved, and although it is an old matter, the wounds of the person claiming to have been hurt seem to still persist. Attention is focused on what the couple, Cha Ye-ryun and Joo Sang-wook, will say to see how these allegations will be settled.
