Kim Ja-yeon, a trend analyst and winner of the 2003 SBS Supermodel Contest, has married Son Young-kwon, former president of Samsung Electronics and former chairman of Harman. The couple has a 25-year age difference.
Kim Ja-yeon recently posted several wedding photos on social media along with a message stating, "I thought I would live alone and never marry, but after passing well past forty and going in circles, I met my one true soulmate."
She explained, "My husband served as president and chief strategy officer (CSO) of Samsung Electronics. He is currently the advisory board chairman of Samsung Semiconductor, chairman of the board of directors of Harman International, and a founder of a Silicon Valley venture capital firm."
She continued, "More than all his social achievements, my husband is a person with a warm personality who genuinely cherishes and loves me, always being considerate and respectful. He finds me very cute because I am tall."
** She also added, "At first, we naturally got to know each other as senior and junior colleagues," and "As time spent together accumulated, we grew closer little by little. After confirming our feelings for each other early this year, we traveled back and forth between the U.S., Korea, and Europe, coming to understand and respect each other's worlds."
Meanwhile, Kim Ja-yeon was born in 1981 and is 45 years old this year. Former CEO Son was born in 1956 and is 70 years old.
After winning first place in the Supermodel competition, Kim Ja-yeon was active in the international fashion industry. She later studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Kim Ja-yeon and Son Young-kwon are senior and junior alumni of MIT.
