The couple addressed the "only adults adopt" stereotype and shared their heartfelt love for their three daughters.
On SBS's "Dong Sang Dream 2 - You're My Destiny," which aired on March 2, the actor and actress mentioned their daughters, including Gyeonggi-do marathon runner Han Ji Hye, who has been part of their family since 2024.
On this day, the couple opened their mouths about 'adult adoption,' which has been talked about a lot. In response, the broadcast captured comments directed at the couple, such as "Why do you adopt adults?" and "Shouldn't you adopt a child?" and others.
Park Shi Eun said, "I think this is the first time I'm talking about this," and confessed, "When I first decided to adopt, I didn't have an adult in mind." However, Park revealed that it was not easy to adopt a child in the lower grades of elementary school with whom she had an exchange at the time, saying, "The adoption attempt was canceled due to various conditions. When the child we wanted to adopt left the nursery school, it was the right time for us to be together. We adopted him and became a family," she explained.
He added, "The two children, other than Ji-hyeon, were bonded at an early age and have been family ever since. We don't know what will happen to us, but we don't intentionally adopt only adults." Jin Tae-hyun also emphasized, "There was a misconception that we don't adopt children because people in their 20s became our family, but the system is difficult. Our second and third daughters are not legally adopted, but foster daughters. In their hearts, they are their biological daughters," he emphasized.
After the broadcast, Park Shi Eun wrote on her social media, "Suddenly, when I looked back at the past, I realized that many people have accompanied us on our life path through 'Statue Dream'."
Looking back at the time, Park Si Eun said, "I realized that many people have accompanied us on our life path through 'Statue Dream'. They want a normal life, and we want to respect and protect that choice," she said, explaining why she doesn't reveal it on air.
"Our daughters are doing well, so even if you are wondering, we would appreciate your support from the bottom of your heart," she added.
Park Si Eun and Jin Tae Hyun married in 2015 and adopted a college-aged daughter in 2019, whom they met through volunteering at a nursery school.
