'Brave New World' Jang Seung-jo, domestic abuser-turned-Korean illegal immigrant, plays another villain...and plays two roles in one
Actor Jang Seung-jo proves his presence with his two villainous roles as a single man of different resolutions.
From the Netflix original series "You Killed Me" to the SBS Friday night drama "Brave New World," Jang shows off his wide acting range by playing different villains in both shows.
In "You Killed Me," Jang Seung-jo played two characters who look alike but have led very different lives. As Noh Jin-pyo, a financier, he portrayed a man obsessed with domestic violence and control, and as Jang Kang, a Korean illegal immigrant, he portrayed a man with a harsh survival instinct. Although they share the same face, the differences in their speech, mood, and behavior created different characters.
In "Brave New World," which is currently airing, he plays Choi Mundo, a modern-day businessman, and Jae Jae Lee, a Joseon Dynasty courtier. Choi Mundo is a manipulative character who builds tension with his understated performance. Jae-jae, on the other hand, is portrayed as a ruthless man who will do anything for power.
In both films, Jang Seung-jo plays characters with opposite personalities and backgrounds, expanding the scope of his one-man and two-man roles. He has been praised for showing a different face in each of his works by moving between modern and past, upper-class and lower-class characters.
'Wonderful New World' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
