This is the only Netflix movie this year. Reminds me of my First Love...2nd in the world. It's full of clichés, but it's fun to melt the emotions of the 90s ⁇ According to Flicks Patrol, an online video service (OTT) ranking site on the 30th, 20th Century Girl ranked fifth in the World Netflix movie category the day before. After falling to the second place in the world on the 26th, it fell three steps, but it still maintained the top spot. It ranked first in four countries including Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam. Japan, Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Peru, the Philippines, Salvador and Thailand. The film tells the story of a 17-year-old Girl named "Purple" (Kim Yoo-jung), whose friendship is more important than love in 1999, claiming to be Cupid of love to achieve her best friend "Kim Yeon-doo" (No Yoon-seo)'s First Love. There is nothing new besides the setting that Purple observes every move of Hyunjin' (Park Jung-woo), Yeon-doo's unrequited love partner. Hyunjin's close friendship with Byeon Woo-seok ' (Byeon Woo-seok ), forming a triangle relationship also showed the romance of the movie. You can feel the emotions of the 90s as shown in the drama series "Answer Me" (2012-2015) and "Twenty Five Twenty One" (2022), including videotapes, camcorders, pagers, pay phones, and PC communications. Purple met Hyunjin by chance on the bus to school and suddenly stopped and sat on his lap. In order to find out the Hyunjin number, I called the research institute counselor, went to the sick nursing room, and struggled to enter the broadcasting room. It is familiar to those who have experienced that time, but it can be fresh for those born in the 1990s and 2000s. This year's Netflix movies have failed to make it to the top of the box office, with harsh reviews ranging from "Moral Sense" to "Ya-cha," "Carter" and "Seoul Masterpiece." Director Bang is the 20th Century Girl's first feature film, and while following the box office formula of a romance movie, he captivated the audience with his delicate production and outstanding visual beauty, especially the blue color and analog sensibility that can be seen in Taiwanese youth movies. In a promotional interview, he said, "It was hard to get out of the cliche because I made it with memories," but added, "We tried to fight head-on with our own colors. It's a strength that we saw it as a classic (not a cliche)."
