Actor Youn Yuh-jung attended the Academy Awards, the largest film award of United States of America, as a prize winner, and made the stage with witty gestures and progress.
The 94th Academy Awards, hosted by the United States of America Film and Arts Sciences (AMPAS), were held at the United States of America's Dolby Theater on the morning of the 27th (local time). Youn Yuh-jung, who won the Best Supporting Actress Award for the first time in Korea Actor at the awards ceremony last year, was on stage as a best supporting Actor award winner according to the convention of the previous year's winner. Youn Yuh-jung, wearing a black dress, wore a blue ribbon on her left chest symbolizing the UN refugee agency's 'With Refugees' campaign.
“I was sorry that my name was not pronounced properly last year (at the awards ceremony), but I knew it was not easy to pronounce it this time,” he said. The 'Youn Yuh-jung table' gesture caught the attention of the crowd at once. When she won the Best Supporting Actress Award for “The Minari” last year, she made headlines by leaving her impression that she had “a different role in each movie, not a competition, but we all won.”
Calling Actor Troy Coucher as the winner of the Best Supporting Actor award, Youn Yuh-jung first announced the winner's name in a sign language: consideration for Coucher, the farmer Actor. The audience also stood up and waved their hands instead of applause, celebrating: Youn Yuh-jung even took the trophy beside him so that Cocher could make a speech on the award in a sign language.
This year's Academy Awards have been a somewhat different landscape from the past; while Academi has been selecting the winner somewhat conservatively. It was mainly focused on the works of large film companies such as Warner Bros. and Walt Disney; however, this year, movies from online video services (OTT) such as Netflix and Apple TV Plus were touted.
The Academy Award for Best Picture went to the Apple TV Plus OLizynal movie 'Koda'. The Power City of London Dog, a work that has been fiercely engaged with Koda, is Netflix OLizzyn. It is meaningful that both works that are nominated for the award are OTT OLizzynal. Koda did not make the previous nomination for the Directors' Union Award (DGA), but was honored with the highest award at the Academy.
It is also worth noting that Apple TV Plus overtook Netflix as Koda won the award for the film. Netflix named the 2018 Academi candidate "the site of disgrace," but failed to win the award. This time, Netflix was highly anticipated for the Power City of London Dog, which won three gold medals at the Golden Globe Awards in January. This work was nominated in 12 categories, but the prize was handed over to Koda.
Koda won awards in the category of Best Supporting Actor and Adapted Award, including Best Picture. The first film to be released to the public last year as the opening film of the Sundance Film Festival, is a music Drama in which Ruby, a teenage girl born to deaf parents, falls in love with music and runs toward her dreams. Marius de Vries, music director of the musical film Lara Croftland, and music producer Nick Baxter participated.
At the ceremony, women, non-white people, sex minorities and disabled people were highlighted. All of the Family of Ruby, the main character of Koda, was Acted by Actors. Cotcher, who won the Best Supporting Actor award, was named Oscar winner for the second time as a farmer Actor.
Director Jane Campion, who won the Director's Award, became the third woman to win the Academy Award for Director. Will Smyths, who played father Richard Serena Williams, who raised Venus and Serena Serena Williams sisters as the best tennis player in history in the movie King Richards, received the first Academy Award for Best Actor in her life. He is the fifth black Actor of all time to win the Best Actor award. Latino Actor Ariana DeVos, who won the Best Supporting Actress Award for Acting Anita in West Side Story, became the first Academy winner as a queer to publicly reveal her gender identity.
The award-winning films featuring non-white characters were also notable: the feature-length animation was won by Encanto, which tells the magic story of Columbia Family. The feature documentary was won by the music documentary Summer of the Festival (...or a revolution that can not be relayed) that deals with the black community.
Although the award ceremony was held by the world-renowned and famous Actors, unexpected events also occurred. Actor Will Smyths punched the face of Actor and comedian Chris Rock, leaving the crowd in shock. When Rock joked about Smyths' wife, Jayda Pinkett Smyths's head, Smyths was on stage and made an unexpected move. Later on stage to win the Best Actor award, he apologized for his actions, though Smyths only apologized for causing problems at the Academy Awards. Rock, who was assaulted, did not formally apologize and bought the public's pity.
