According to SM Entertainment on the 29th, Chen's wife gave birth to a daughter at Seoul Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Chen earlier announced his wife's pregnancy with a surprise marriage announcement in January, when the marriage ceremony was also held privately; there was a stir among EXOels.
"It would have been a natural but not easy decision to take responsibility until the end," said a cheering voice, "a really cool person who is being criticized and protecting a child."
Some, however, have also refuted that it is not a courtesy to fans and members who have been affectionate. Some fans have held rallies demanding responsibility for Chen.
SM later stressed that there was no change in EXO members. "I had time to discuss with EXO members before officially announcing the marriage of member Chen, and all EXO members have been informed that they want to be together in the future as they have been suffering from member departure."
