Big Hit, eventually decided to cancel BTS X Yasushi Akimoto collaboration "Change the More Songs" (official position)
Big Hit Entertainment finally withdrew the collaboration that was scheduled to be held with Japan producer Yasushi Akimoto.
Big Hit Entertainment announced on the afternoon of September 16th that "the song of the Japan single album to be released in November will be changed for production reasons" through the official BTS fan cafe.
According to the announcement, "Bird" of BTS' new single "Bird/FAKE LOVE/Airplane pt.2" (bird/fake love/airplane part two) which was scheduled to be released on Japan on November 7th is finalized as not being included. Instead, the 'IDOL' remix version and the 'FAKE LOVE' Japan remix version are included instead.
At first, the songwriting for Bird was to be directed by Yasushi Akimoto, a famous producer who created Japan's popular girl group AKB48. However, it has been controversial since several times, such as the right-wing movement of the Self-Defense Forces and the misogynistic lyrics have been shown in a deep work.
Most BTS fans recognized the controversy and voiced that collaboration with Yasushi Akimoto is likely to undermine the musical value of BTS. Big Hit Entertainment called for the suspension of collaboration. Big Hit Entertainment decided to cancel the collaboration after discussions.
The following is the official position of Big Hit Entertainment.
