Singer Choi Yu-jeong appeared on the YouTube channel “Annyeonghaseemi” and opened up about her experience of having to maintain a weight in the 40kg range during her time with I.O.I, as well as the side effects she suffered from taking diet pills. Choi Yu-jeong explained that, despite being at a healthy weight at the time, she was forced to lose weight excessively at her agency’s request, and she urged caution regarding past dieting methods that had harmed her health.

She confessed that during her teenage years, she was pressured by her agency to lose weight and was forced to take diet pills, which caused serious physical side effects such as dry mouth, heart palpitations, and nausea.
Choi Yu-jeong, who noted that her eating habits have since changed and she now maintains a healthy diet, added that eating in moderation is better for one’s health than extreme dieting. Recalling a time when she went through a slump and was afraid to appear in public, she now prioritizes her health.
