CEO Jang Dong-min’s “Blue Sky” Commercializes “Eco-Ring” Technology to Reduce Plastic Use in PET Bottles

Blue Sky, an eco-friendly technology company led by TV personality Jang Dong-min, has successfully commercialized its Eco-Ring technology, which reduces the amount of plastic used in PET bottle spouts. Blue Sky has begun the full-scale adoption of eco-friendly packaging by applying this technology—developed jointly with Namyang Magic—to product containers manufactured by Dongwon F&B.The Eco-Ring technology reduces plastic usage by 1.5 grams per bottle by streamlining the spout structure while maintaining the PET bottles sealing performance and strength. Designed to be compatible with the international standard PCO 1810, it offers the advantage of allowing existing production facilities to be used as-is.Blue Sky and Namyang Magic have signed a business agreement with Dongwon F&B to collaborate on expanding the adoption of eco-friendly containers. Currently, this technology is being applied to select products, such as Dongwon Tuna Sauce and Canola Oil, which are already on the market.Through the adoption of this technology, Dongwon F&B aims to reduce its annual plastic usage by approximately 14 metric tons. Going forward, the two companies plan to continue pursuing research and development on container weight reduction and related campaigns.

Jang Dong-min’s Eco-Friendly Packaging Innovation

Comedian Jang Dong-min, serving as CEO of the eco-tech firm Pureunhaneul, has developed a new 'Eco-ring' technology that reduces plastic usage in PET bottle manufacturing. By optimizing the screw neck structure, the technology cuts 1.5g of plastic per bottle while maintaining structural integrity and compatibility with existing production lines.

Sustainable Manufacturing Collaboration

Pureunhaneul and Namyang Magic have partnered with Dongwon F&B to implement this lightweight packaging technology across various consumer products. The initiative aims to reduce plastic waste and production costs, with the technology already being applied to products such as Dongwon tuna sauce and canola oil.
