Shin Bong-sun hits the jackpot with 'gold investing'... She has a pile of '10-don gold keys' she's kept for 20 years: "I've been saving them up."
Comedian Shin Bong-sun has drawn attention by revealing that she still keeps the "Golden Key" she received as a memento of her first TV appearance as a rookie.
A video titled "Song Eun-i & Shin Bong-sun Reunite After a Long Time to Visit SBS (ft. Y2K Itself)" was recently posted on Shin Bong-sun’s YouTube channel.
The video shows Shin Bong-sun and Song Eun-i visiting the SBS headquarters to appear on the SBS Power FM show "Beautiful Morning with Bong Tae-gyu."
On that day, the two reminisced as they toured a space set up to commemorate the 30th anniversary of SBS Power FM. In particular, Shin Bong-sun expressed deep emotion upon discovering her photo displayed inside the building, saying, “I’m truly moved. They even engraved our faces on the pillars of the SBS building.”
Later, while examining a commemorative plaque for the 30th anniversary, Song Eun-i joked, “Is this plaque made of gold?” prompting Shin Bong-sun to naturally recall the culture of the broadcasting industry in the past.
Shin Bong-sun surprised everyone by revealing, “Back in the day, when we were rookies and appeared on TV, they gave us ‘golden keys,’” adding, “I haven’t sold a single one; I still have them all.” She explained that she has kept the golden keys she received while appearing on various programs in the early days of her broadcasting career, even after all these years.
In response, Song Eun-i said, “Good for you,” mentioning the recent surge in gold prices and expressing envy over Shin Bong-sun’s unintended “gold investment.”
After returning home, Shin Bong-sun revealed the golden keys she actually keeps. She captivated viewers by showing off not only a one-nyang golden key she received as a memento from a past TV appearance but also the gold medal she received when she won the Entertainment Awards.
Shin Bong-sun proudly introduced each of these items filled with golden memories, saying, “Back then, people were so generous. I’m keeping them in very good condition now.”
Meanwhile, Shin Bong-sun debuted in 2005 as a comedian through KBS’s 20th open recruitment.
Back in 2005, when Shin Bong-sun was a rookie, the price of gold was around 64,000 won per 3.75 grams (1 don), but it has since risen more than tenfold to over 800,000 won today. The golden key she has kept for so long without selling has turned out to be an unexpected “cash cow.”
