Lee Seong-Mi appeared on the 6th anniversary special of TV Chosun's 'Perfect Life' and opened up about the pain of chemotherapy and the depression she experienced while battling Breast cancer. Along with the sense of loss she felt upon hearing news of her colleagues battling cancer, she expressed her determination to live the rest of her life faithfully, day by day.
Lee Seong-Mi recalled that the radiation therapy and chemotherapy regimen following surgery were extremely painful, and that she suffered from depression severe enough to make her want to give up on life. In particular, she confessed to being deeply shocked by the passing of colleagues such as Kim Ja-ok and Kim Young-ae, as well as the news of Park Mi-sun's battle with cancer.
Lee Seong-Mi revealed that after experiencing such pain, she came to reorganize her way of life. She emphasized that it is more important to spend today joyfully and faithfully than to dwell on complicated thoughts.
Lee Seong-Mi was diagnosed with early-stage Breast cancer in 2013 and was declared fully cured in 2018. In a past broadcast, she evoked sympathy from viewers by revealing an anecdote about writing a will before her surgery.
