Kang Ho-dong Hit with Another Allegation: "Tried to Poach an MC from the Same Time Slot... 'So he's not coming, is he?'—He Held a Grudge Until the Very End" ('Ah Young')
Heo Jun revealed Kang Ho-dong’s past.
On the June 6 episode of JTBC’s “Knowing Bros,” Lim Yong-han, Chae Seung-byeong, and Heo Jun appeared as part of a Memorial Day special.
On the show, Heo Jun revealed that when he served as the host of KBS2’s “Invincible Baseball Team,” the show’s ratings, which had been as low as 2–3%, rose to 14%.
He recalled, “At the time, the competing programs were SBS’s ‘Star King’ and MBC’s ‘Infinite Challenge.’” He added, “The ratings back then were 14%, 14%, and 14%,” and revealed, “I went to a funeral for a director I knew, and Kang Ho-dong was there. Right then, Kang Ho-dong said to me, ‘You know Star King, right? Come over to Star King.’ Even though we were both MCs for shows in the same time slot.”
Heo Jun continued, “Back then, people said that if you caught Kang Ho-dong’s eye, you were guaranteed to make it big in this industry. But since I was beloved on ‘Invincible Baseball Team,’ I couldn’t move to a show in the same time slot, so I told him, ‘I respect you so much, but I can’t do it.’”
Heo Jun added, “But after everyone else who had come to pay their respects had left, Kang Ho-dong was sitting with someone else and said, ‘He’s not coming, is he?’” Everyone reacted with, “Ugh, I really hate that,” bursting into laughter at Kang Ho-dong’s lingering resentment.
Heo Jun continued, “I greeted him by saying, ‘I’m sorry, hyung.’ At the end, the director came over and told me, ‘Ho-dong, go.’ Even as I was leaving, he said, ‘So you’re not coming, right?’”
In response, Kang Ho-dong said, “He must have missed Heo Jun,” but Seo Jang-hoon cut in with, “He was drunk,” sending the set into chaos. Heo Jun wrapped things up on a warm note, saying, “He (Kang Ho-dong) was so kind to me.”
