“If you didn’t feel burdened, you’d be lying, but you were sure,” said Actor Soo Ae, who showed off his extraordinary Acting through the movie High Society. Soo Ae, who made his debut in KBS drama 'School' in 1999, was loved for his simple and innocent image. As an Actor, he tried to show a new appearance from 'vile' to 'athlete' to break away from his fixed image. In High Society, Jun Jin played the role of Oh Su Young for Blow-Up. He also performed Bedsin for exposure. “It was Top Model; there was no fear of unconventional Acting,” Soo Ae met at a cafe in Palpan-dong, Seoul on the 23rd.
10. What do you think of the movie? Is there any regret? Soo Ae: I am always so fond of my work... (laughing) I am glad that it ends safely rather than regret. It was fine until the premiere, but now it starts to tremble.
10. High Society may have been the new Top Model. I wonder what made Choices. Soo Ae: There is a desire for various roles. I was attracted to the Character who was chasing Blow-Up, and I thought it was going toward what I did not do rather than hesitate.
10. Oh Su Young is a selfish Character who is a Blow-Up mass. What did you think was important for Acting? Soo Ae: Why Oh Su Young had to be selfish? Did he do it from the beginning? He was living in a generous, unsavory way. Passion is a hard-working man. He is a professor, and he is a deputy director of the museum. But the disdain and disenfranchisement among the chaebols facing him seems to have changed Passion to Blow-Up. In that respect, I could understand Su-yeon. The director said, "The second place is the first place." Even in school days, the test shows that the second place is not the first place, but the second place is crying.
10. Oh Su Young is very daring for Blow-Up. Have you ever been a daring Jun Jin for Blow-Up in reality, not a play? Soo Ae: Unfortunately, it is a job that can not be done. If it is, it seems that the word Soo Ae said this'.
10. Exposure and Bedsin. Wasn't that burdensome? Soo Ae: If it wasn't burdensome, it was a lie. But I was more sure than burden. Rather than being sure that the movie will be good, it is a conviction for the works, and for the Actors, the directors, and the staff who are breathing. Exposure, Bedsin, and others did not interfere with the purpose and direction of the act, but the process of communicating and coordinating with the bishop was necessary. I had to be convincing about what I intended to convey rather than the level of exposure. I thought it was Top Model. I hope that it will be well communicated to the audience in the present situation where the work is completed. I think it is a homework to solve by delivering my Acting image without any strangers.
10. Did you talk to your opponent, Lee Jin-wook, before taking the Bedsin? Soo Ae: Unfortunately, there was not much time for the episode with Lee Jin-wook. I had to talk in a short time. He was a gentleman. I met him for the first time and I could act. I talked to the director constantly before, so there was nothing difficult to understand and act on the scene.
10. How was your work with the transformation director? Soo Ae: I cranked in mid-October after receiving an offer in April last year, and had a lot of conversations because I had a lot of time to sign a contract. The director was very fond of Oh Su Young, and of Soo Ae. He was actually a professor. I thought he was authoritative. Most of Actor’s opinions are accepted. It’s a free-and-watch style. It’s more comfortable. The High Society started work five years ago, and it’s long. The message I wanted to talk about was clear and I was confident about the bishop and the work.
10. He offered Park Hae-il a direct appearance. Why? Soo Ae: He was a fan. I met him several times in private. I met at the awards ceremony early last year and made a proposal. I thought I should meet them when I could talk about youth. (Laughing) I have expressed my intention to be with any work from before, rather than having the role of Jang Tae-joon in this work in mind. There are similarities such as seniority and debut time, and there seemed to be a lot to learn.
10. Was there much to learn from breathing with Park Hae-il? Soo Ae: There were quite a lot of sensitive parts for the female Actors in the High Society. He served as an intervention in that. He had to make a place, listening to his thoughts and feelings. Hale does a lot of research before he does his usual Acting. He’s a schoolboy. He’s busy concentrating on his own. I was impressed by the way he was so good. He was so important to communicate. It seemed that the synergy between Actors had risen.
10. What do you think of Jang Tae-jun-Oh Su Young and his wife? What is the ideal couple they think of when they should think about actual marriage? Soo Ae: I think they're the ideal couple, comrades and the same side. Something bad happened, but I said I didn't want to break up. I had a belief that I would be there, even though I had revealed my face and feelings. But it’s a unique couple. Two beds in one room. (Laughs)
10. I don’t think I was too generous about “infidelity.” Soo Ae: It was shocking when I first saw the scenario. It seems that Su-yeon was important in time, and because she knew her husband was so naive. Su-yeon's visit to Eun-ji (Kim Gyu-sun), who spent the night with Tae-joon, made sense when I saw the situation in the drama, but I think she would have gone to Tae-joon.
10. Overall, it seems like a lot of goodwill. There are some parts that can be unpleasant to the audience. Soo Ae: I sympathize. The color of the movie High Society is the part that can not be avoided. It seems to be the key to how to communicate smoothly.
10. There are several lines in the movie that say, “Don’t cross the line.” In the end, they value the “line” that should be crossed, and should not be crossed. What do you think is the line that you should keep in your daily life? Soo Ae: I think “relationship” is important. The closer you are, the more polite you have to be. That's the same with parents and children, or even close Friends.
10. What efforts are you making to do that when you once said in a broadcast that you want to be close to the public? Soo Ae: I’ve been on entertainment programs such as Running Man and tried things. There are difficulties. I want to show you more. But there is a Character that is not. There is something that can not be overcome. As a rookie, parents and Friends were amazed at how they “act in front of many cameras and people.” They like to communicate and talk, but they are unfamiliar.
10. What do you usually do when you don't have a shot? Soo Ae: I like indoor exercise. Pilates are steady. (Laughing) Sometimes I take a walk.
10. It is time to move beyond the mid-30s to 40. Is there any change in the past as an Actor? Soo Ae: It seems not because of age and there seems to be some changes due to the work. When I finished the movie 'Cold', I felt that my mindset changed depending on how I breathed with an Actor. The most common idea at this point is to be an Actor who can see the whole scene like Hale.
10. What is the Blow-Up of Soo Ae in reality, not Oh Su Young? Soo Ae: It seems to change every time. There was a sense of rejection in the word Blow-Up. Passion liked and oriented, but there was fear in Blow-Up. But at this point, Blow-Up, which I hope the movie will be good, is firmly established. (Laughing) I hope it is loved by many.
10. What if I say something to the prospective audience who will watch High Society? Soo Ae: I wish the audience could feel the charm of the work I thought. Everyone lives hard. I’m living hard. I’m also suspicious of “What are you living for?” I want you to watch a movie and find your own happiness, not competition.
