The Korean Film Council (Chairman Oh Seek Geun) commissioned a member of the Korean Film Council Inter-Korean Film Exchange SEK Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Inter-Korean Film Commission) on July 5 and held its first official meeting.
The South-North Film Commission will appoint internal and external experts as members of the film industry to resume exchanges in the inter-Korean film sector, which has been cut off, to promote the inter-Korean national community sentiment and to promote active cooperation by creating ties between the two Koreas.
The Special Committee on Inter-Korean Film Council elected Oh Seek Geun (Chairman of the Korean Film Council), Moon Sung-Keun (Chairman of the SEK Committee for the Promotion of Inter-Korean Film Council Inter-Korean Film Exchange) as co-chairman, and Lee Jun-dong (Deputy Chairman of the Korean Film Council, Film "Burning", "City" Production), Cho Sun-hee (Novelist) , Lee Joon-ik (a director of film, 'Apostle', directing 'The King'), Jung Woo-sung (Actor, 'steel rain', 'The King'), Kim Kwang-soo (a representative of youth film, producing 'Chosun detective'), Lee Ju-ik (a representative of Boram Entertainment, producing 'Manchu'), Lee Jin-sook (a production of 'Miljeong') and others A total of 11 members, includingtainment and production, master's degree at North Korea Graduate School, Kim So-young (Professor of Korea National University of Arts), Lee Woo-young (Professor of North Korea Graduate School, and a leading expert on North Korea film).
Through this meeting, the inter-Korean film special committee will discuss the past special business plan and the contents of the project so far, discuss the practical plans for inter-Korean film exchange, and will focus on projects with high feasibility.
“Although inter-Korean relations have not been easy in the meantime, we believe that the film will be able to play a role as a bridge between the South and the North, and we will push forward one by one from the easy one. The main point of the meeting today is that we have agreed that if film exchanges are on the agenda at the third summit, there will be great progress. " On the other hand, Jung Woo-sung expressed his expectation at the meeting, saying, "It was a good place to be able to go to the North Korean movie and to participate actively in special activities in the future."
The Korean Film Council SEK Committee, which has been in operation for six years from 2003 to 2008, proposed and implemented various exchange and cooperation measures that the inter-Korean film industry can cooperate with, such as the development of the YG Entertainment Development Support Project for Inter-Korean Film Exchange, the establishment of the Inter-Korean Cultural Exchange Center, and the holding of the Symposium on Inter-Korean Copyright Exchange and Cooperation.
