Running Man runs in the Philippines, following Vietnam and Indonesia.
sbs signed a contract with GMA Entertainment Group, a representative terrestrial channel in the Philippines, on the co-production of Running Man at the GMA Network Center on the 11th.
GMA Entertainment Group is one of the top terrestrial channels in the Philippines, which celebrated its 70th anniversary this year. The event was attended by a large number of major executives including GMA Group Chairman Felipe L Gozon, President Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., and Vice President Felipe Yalong, and showed great interest in co-production of Running Man on sbs. Deputy Director Kim Yong-jae and Deputy Director Kim Soo-hwan of the global content biz team attended.
“This Philippine version of Running Man will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the ability of sbs co-production once again in the Philippines, which is at the peak of the Korean Wave, following Vietnam,” said Kim Yong-jae, vice director of sbs Global Contents. “Running Man has become a global content in its name, as it is broadcast in the Philippines following Vietnam (season 2) and Indonesia this year.”
sbs is expected to sign a joint production contract for Running Man in the Philippines following Vietnam and Indonesia, and Running Man will be a new catalyst for the spread of New Korean Wave.
Meanwhile, news of the joint production of Running Man has been reported in the Philippines, and it has already received hot attention. On Twitter in the Philippines, expectations for the Philippine version of Running Man are rising, with #RunningmanOnGMA coming second in real-time search terms and popular Philippine celebrities showing interest in appearing first.
