Taebaek city, which has been carrying out 'Taebaek Couple Festival' to commemorate the opening of 'Dawn of the Sun', announced the divorce news of Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki.
"Nothing has been decided yet regarding the 'Taebaek Couple Festival', which was scheduled to open on July 27," said a Taebaek city official (hereinafter referred to as Taebaek city) on Friday.
Initially, Taebaek city was scheduled to hold 'Taebaek Couple Festival' next month to commemorate the opening of KBS2 drama 'Dawn of the Sun' park.
Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo made a connection through the KBS2 drama 'Dawn of the Sun' in 2016. At that time, the popularity of the drama reached its peak, and after the end, it was constantly talked about and received great love from the public. Taibaek city, which was the filming site of 'Sun Generation', restored the filming set with 270 million won in August thanks to this popularity.
Taebaek city then created the 'Dawn of the Sun' park the following year, with statues of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo and various sculptures. The park also has a statue of Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki in the drama, which moved the kissing scene.
In addition, Taebaek city held 'Taebaek Couple Festival' every summer in commemoration of the opening of 'Dawn of the Sun' park. In this process, the 'Dawn of the Sun' park quickly became popular as a representative tourist attraction in Gangwon area, and the 'Taebaek Couple Festival' was also famous.
However, news of the divorce of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo was reported on the morning of the 27th. At that time, Song Joong-ki said that he had filed a divorce settlement application with the Seoul Family Court on the 26th through a legal representative, and Song Hye-kyo agency UAA Korea also admitted that the two divorced by personality difference.
