Singer and broadcaster Kim Jong-kook (pictured) are the full-fledged programs in the first half of this year; Kim Jong-kook added another one here. He was the main MC in Mnet's new music entertainment 'The Call 2' which was first broadcast on the 5th. Kim Jong-kook, who shows the essence of the All-Around Entertainer, met at CJ ENM Ilsan Production Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do.
The Call is a concept in which my Rola singers collaborate by sending a Love call to The Artist who hid his identity. Season 1 of The Call, which aired last year, was touted with ratings rising to 4 percent thanks to its freshness, which combines collaboration, reasoning and romance. Kim Jong-kook, who starred as The Artist in Season 1, covers Yoon Jong Shin, Yoon Min Soo, Ownership, UV and The Artists who participated as co-MCs in Season 2. Kim Jong-kook said, "I wanted to participate in the role of a member of the singer," and added, "I am currently on the national tour 'Finding Kim Jong-kook'.
“It’s a reality that there aren’t many stage for established singers to stand on, but a proposal came from the music channel Mnet and started “The Call” pleasantly. It's an enormous honor to be a singer in music and entertainment, because Mnet creates a quality music broadcasting stage that other airwaves' music programs PDs recognize. I want to be part of the moment when I see singers playing good music while recording The Call 2. Ha ha.”
In 'The Call 2', Kim Jong-kook reunited with Yoon Jong Shin, who has been on the path of 'universal entertainer'. The two men have made their debut as a singer and have a common point that they have succeeded as a broadcaster without losing their identity as a musician.
“When I made my debut in Turbo in 1995, I was fixed on SBS Radio, Happy Young Day, where my brother was DJing. I’ve had a lot of time with him, and his plan is so good that he’s good at the Call 2.”
Kim Jong-kook is a fixed member of Running Man' and is loved overseas. In February, the company held an official fan meeting for Running Man at the Asia World Expo Arena in Hong Kong, which accommodates more than 10,000 people. Kim Jong-kook said he would like Korean well-made contents such as Running Man' and 'The Call 2' to be widely known overseas.
That's why I chose BTS when I asked who would like to send a Love call to appear in The Call 2. Kim Jong-kook praised BTS as "very proud juniors" and said, "Many people, including me, said that they would like BTS to appear in "The Call 2" at the recording site.
“We’re planning to release a new turbo and solo song this year, and we’re thinking about releasing a surprise soundtrack for Turbo, and we’ve been preparing solo recordings for years, although we’ve been careful since we’ve been playing solo. I want to hear a lot of solo songs at the end of the year.”
